Murder and manslaughter

I think the suggested reforms on murder and manslaughter make a lot of sense. I don't think the tabloids will like them but I suspect a large section of the public do recognise the need for reform.

What do you think is wrong with the current law?

At the moment, people convicted of murder go to prison for a long time, which is as it should be. People convicted of manslaughter get anything from a long sentence to a suspended one, which also seems to me to be broadly OK.
