The following exchanges took place in the Lords yesterday.

Thank you for this reference.

I hope that there will be no delay in official response about this. Although I think that in reality it will be the governments position to keep on the postive foot with Israel and there will be a reluctance to pursue a difficult and explosive issue.

It is perhaps sobering to think that despite the brief headlines that we tend to get in the mainstream media, Israel does have a military posture which on the ground seems hostile and less than evenhanded. Could this be the real on the ground agenda which leads other parties to see little hope in a fair engagement with Israel?

For an authoritative and rigorous analysis of the Palestin Israel conflict, see the following website by Professor Norman Finkelstein.

Also, take a look at some of the interviews on the Democracy Now website, based on New York City.

On another topic, how does everyone feel now that posts to this website are filtered and edited? If there were "abusive" messages being posted, then all you had to do was delete them Clive. Indeed, you seemed to be doing that so efficiently that I've yet to see even one of them. If you want free debate on this site them you need to leave it free and open. On the other hand, if you want nothing but drooling sychophants then continue editing.

You really are New Labour through and through.

Clive thinks that I am responsible for all the nasty messages, including racist attacks (I didn't see them, so don't know what these were). Well, the person was signing "dan", but a simple comparison between my IP address and that of the troll would have shown that we're in different countries - I doubt this troll is in India. But Clive insists it was me, probably in an effort to portray me as a trouble maker and detract from the argument I am putting forward regarding the reasons for the collapse of the Labour membership.
